Unable to upload FZR skin to LFSWorld

I've been trying to upload my personal FZR skin to LFSWorld, but after I selected the image and click the upload button nothing seems to happen... the site is loading for a long time and when the loading is finished my skin is not there.

I resized the skin to 1024x1024 and the file size is optimized to 380kb in size.

Am I doing something wrong or does it take some time before the skin shows up in my folder?

If you mean by "putting your foot down" that you apply full throttle coming out of a corner it's normal you spin off, especially with a real wheel drive car. I suppose keyboard control gives you some sort of traction control to avoid this, but when using a wheel and pedal set your foot is your "traction control", never apply full throttle when exiting a corner but put your foot down a little at first and when you feel the traction you put your foot down (usually when you're car has straightened out and is no longer turning).

I was a keyboarder in the good old "Geoff Crammond's GP2" days in the early-mid 90's and when I bought my first steering wheel in '95 or '96 this was one of the most difficult things to master for me and I was a lot slower with wheel at first... but with some practise you'll start beating your laptimes eventually! I've never used a keyboard with LFS, but I can imagine that setups made with digital controls in mind don't work with analog controls, so try to forget your old setups.

Good luck!

This patch brought me back to LFS again! I stopped racing about 1,5 year ago because my internet connection at the time was lagging terribly, when I received the email about the new patch I decided to give it another try with my new provider (and new PC!) and I'm loving it!

I love the new clutch, I used to be a powershifter so had no idea what was going on when I suddenly lost drive after about 4 laps on AS3 with my FZR, but after adjusting my driving style and lift the pedal a bit when upshifting things were great!

I've never been a demo driver, I purchased the S2 license immediately as I knew this was going to be a racing simulator I'd love, but I can't understand what the demo drivers are complaining about... You've been given a Formula BMW to drive instead of a sissy XRT!

If I were racing in a league and they would make an exception for a visually disabled driver to use other views I wouldn't have a problem with it.... but this is so easy to abuse, how do you check?
Anyway, I only do pickup races, but if I'd ever join a league I'd pick one with FCV

And imho... if you're able to drive with your disability using a custom view I'm pretty sure you can drive with cockpit view as well, maybe you just didn't give it a fair chance and used the other views as a convenience?

I'm sorry for your handicap, but I think most people would disagree with you. For pickup races I suppose it'd be ok, but leagues usually want to simulate car racing as realistically as possible, and chase cam view just isn't...

I just started playing LFS again after I received the email about the new patch launch. I was playing on the ConeDodgers 1 server, AS3 with the FZR, and noticed that after about 3 laps my engine was revving but had no power.
Initially I thought it was a drive shaft problem, but when it kept happening and asked about it I learned it was an overheated clutch... I've been playing racing sims for years and as I only have 2 pedals on my Logitech Momo I'm using auto-clutch and was powershifting as I always do. It takes some time to learn an old dog new tricks, but I've adjusted my driving style to this and have no problems to lift my foot of the pedal when changing gears. I like LFS all the better for this! It's good to know this sim is still in development, some people just don't like changes...I welcome them.

DK

I registered on Sunday but still didn't get an activation email, I suppose this is not send automatical?

Oh I'd like to be a volunteer for whatever task. My Irish Broadband connection is not good enough to join competative racing, but would still like to do something and can join the test team for Team Eire.

Quote from bo-kristiansen :well.... what did u expect when u turn off AUTO update

I just check for updates once a week.

...manually.

I expect that when I turn off auto-update that Norton considers me smart and mature enough to be responsible enough to make sure I frequently update Norton on my own discretion The problem I have with auto-update turned on, is that it will automatically reboot my pc when it installed an update on the norton program!! And I don't want my pc to reboot unless I do so myself.

Norton Antivirus warnings messing up races

Hi,

My problem is not with LFS itself, but with Norton Antivirus 2006... While racing it can happen that the LFS screen minimizes and flips back to the Windows screen to tell me there's an update for Norton Antivirus or a Virus/Worm detected. This is really pissing me off as this always seem to happen when I'm in a good race.

Any ideas?

Quote from DratsaB :Welcome m8, great to see more Irish joining the LFS scene

Thanks, but sorry for spoiling the excitement... I'm not actually Irish as my name suggests I'm dutch but have been living in Ireland for over 3 years now, 2 more years and I can apply for Irish citizenship eh?

As for driving style... the most impact on laptime is the speed with which you come out of a corner. Many people seem to think that braking late for a corner will gain them more time, but it actually doesn't.
If you think about this, it makes sense... if you come quicker out of a corner, you'll reach higher speeds all over the straight and thus gaining seconds, while braking for a corner is only over a very small distance of the track. I discovered with previous racing simulator experience that I was braking way to late and that I actually improved my laptimes by braking earlier and steering into corners more smoothly, both my corner speed and exiting corner speed improved a lot which in turn helped me to shave off seconds from my laptimes.

And no offense, but some people just are 5 seconds off the pace. If everybody would be driving the same fast laptimes something is wrong... there's always more talented people out there. Unfortunately I'm not one of them myself, with a lot of hard work and hours of practise I should be able to get within and about 1 second of the fastest guys out there, but do not have the time for that... so I'm happy if I can be 2 or 3 seconds off-pace.
